It was an honour to be approached by DA about the possibility of sharing a selection of 15 of the 31 short works I made earlier this year. Proceeds go to Amnesty International. This also includes a PDF booklet featuring the texts and accompanying imagery.
I was drawn to the notion of writing brief snapshot-type soundworks to capture the spirit of sites on Ynys Môn. These are not densely layered as with many of my offerings. A musica povera of sorts. The self-imposed restrictions I applied were:
• one or two raw field recordings
• tenor recorder monody
• vocal recitation of a text I wrote
• no longer than 2 minutes in length
As ever, they are dedicated to the spirits who roam this isle, remembering what happened here.

Roedd yn anrhydedd cael DA gysylltu ynglŷn â’r posibilrwydd o rannu detholiad o 15 o’r 31 o weithiau byrion o gynharach eleni. Mae hyn hefyd yn cynnwys llyfryn PDF sy’n cynnwys y testunau a’r delweddau cysylltiedig.
Roeddwn eisiau ysgrifennu gweithiau sain byr i ddal ysbryd safleoedd ar Ynys Môn. Nid yw’r rhain yn haenog fel llawer o’m offrymau. Musica povera o fath. Y cyfyngiadau a gymhwysais oedd:
• un neu ddau o recordiadau maes amrwd
• tiwn tenor recorder
• llefaru lleisiol o destun a ysgrifennais
• dim mwy na 2 funud o hyd
